LCUUF History
The group was formed after Barbara Lauer, a long-time UU,   posted on the local
webboards in  2005, asking if there was interest in forming a fellowship in the Lake
Chapala area.  A number of people responded, including Trudy Crippen, who
assumed many of the early organization tasks.

Initial meetings were held at Hotel Danza del Sol in a room graciously provided by
Melanie's Resturant.  Attendance ranged from 12 to 30.  The group was a mix of
UU's from US and Canadian congregations and interested individuals seeking
more information.  Those attending included year-round residents, snowbirds, and
vacationers.

The increasing number of attendees and the approaching Winter
encouraged the group to seek other meeting sites. Peter, of   Pedro's
Gourmet resturant on Ocampo, made the resturant available.
As the congregation grew, another move was needed.  Negotiations with the Lake Chapala
Jewish Congregation resulted in a move to their building for our Sunday services.
During the course of the last year, we have had special services to celebrate various events.

In December 2007, our winter visitors and new arrivals were invited to join the congregation.
